guilt by demonstration
This video...Wow. Obama spokesman Robert Gibb does an amazing job of showing the absurdity of guilt by association rather than telling it. By accusing Sean Hannity of being anti-semitic, Gibb forces Hannity to make the reasonable argument that he doesn't agree with everyone he interviews on his show. Gee, kind of like how Barack Obama isn't necessarily a violent radical by virtue of the fact that he knows one? The more agitated and defensive Hannity gets, the more he proves how completely inane this line of reasoning is. I don't know what's more sad: the fact that people actually take this William Ayers thing seriously, or that by the end of this video Sean Hannity still doesn't realize that he's taken the bait.

gotcha!
"Gotcha journalism" has to be the dumbest of all the Republicans' self-victimizing buzzwords. McCain's camp has spent its post-convention handling Sarah Palin tightly, keeping her out of situations where she could face difficult questions. Now that the media is tired of being denied access to the non-constructed, non-spoon-fed Palin, they're scrutinizing her. As they should be. She isn't fielding trick questions here. If she can't answer a simple question without ducking for cover under the desk of meaningless, generic conservative platitudes, the only "gotcha" moment is the one she creates for herself.
